Twin Rite

Josh Jacobs, son of Jeffrey
and Ellen Jacobs of West
Bloomfield, and W. Mathew
Daly, son of John P. and Anita
Daly of Farmington Hills,
will share their b'nai mitzvah
celebration on Saturday at
Temple Israel with Alexei
Achildaev, son of Israel and
Liuba Achildaev of Tashkent,
USSR.
The Achildiaev family ap-
plied for exit visas together
with Achildaev's parents,
Tamara and Asher, in
September, 1978. In
November the parents receiv-
ed permission to leave, but
the younger Achildaevs and
their two children were refus-
ed without explanation.
A Soviet official in
Tashkent told the senior
Achildaevs that they must go
to Israel alone, then they
could send an invitation from
Israel to their son, who would
be allowed to leave at once.
But if they remained in the
USSR the visas would be
cancelled and no one in the
family would get permission
to leave again.
The senior Achildaevs ar-
rived in Israel on April 26,
1979. They quickly sent an
invitation to their son. Con-
trary to the promises of the
Soviet official, the younger
Achildaeves were refused
again. They are still given no
reason for their refusal.

Bat Mitzvah

Sarah Elizabeth Patt,
daughter of Roberta and
Daniel E. Patt of Huntington
Woods, will twin the obser-
vance of her bat mitzvah
celebration with Anna Latin-
sky, daughter of Olga and
Yosef Latinsky of Leningrad,
on Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at
Temple Emanu-El.
The Latinsky family has
applied for exit visas twice,
and each time has been turn-
ed down.

Simmer Is
Bar Mitzvah

David Simmer was called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah
last Shabbat at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
David is the son of Joel and
Lee Simmer. Grandparents
are Minnie Simmer, Robert
and Thelma Gottlieb, and
Sam and Sara Simmer.
Friends and relatives from
Maryland, Florida, New York,
Ohio, Illinois and Ontario
joined David in celebration of
his bar mitzvah.
