"In our schooling, we learned simultaneously four languages — English, Hebrew, Yiddish and French. Now I really appreciate it," recalls Zaklos. He met and married his wife in •Montreal. They first lived and studied in New York. Then he taught at the Akiva Day School in Nashville, Tenn., _ for eight. years. For the last nine years, he has been teaching at the Lubavitch Day School. Zaklos teaches general Hebrew studies. On Friday afternoon and during the summer Zaklos is in charge of the Mitzvah Tank of Chabad House on Wheels which is a motor home filled with Jewish literature and a bimah. The slogan on the motor home reads: Mitzvahs on the spot for people on the go. Zaklos explains, "If some Jewish people won't come to the synagogue, we come to them." Zaklos has traveled to the Upper Peninsula, Canada, college campuses and local neighborhoods distributing literature on the holidays. "There is something for every person," he says. Zaklos notes that many people are excited about the Mitzvah Tank. "One lady exclaimed, 'Judaism is alive? " When he handed out literature to a non-Jewish policeman on basic commandments, the policeman replied, "This is what I'm trying to do." One of his most interesting travels was an encounter with a Jehovah Witness believer who was born Jewish. "We had many discussions, and she started sending me literature." For most people, he believes that the Mitzvah Tank is successful in getting people interested in Judaism and their heritage.
