Violinist Amy Shevrin,
cellist Thomas Cappaert and
pianist Michele Cooker will
be featured in a concert,
"Jewish Music in the
Classical Repertoire" at
7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at the DeRoy
Theater in the Jewish Com-
munity Center, Maple/Drake.
This musical program is
sponsored by Akiva Hebrew
Day School. An afterglow will
follow.
Shevrin, a member of the
first violin section of the
Toledo Symphony Orchestra,
studied at Barnard College,
the Eastman School of Music
and most recently with
Camilla Wicks of the Univer-
sity of Michigan.
Cappaert studied cello at
the University of Michigan
with Olivia Edel and Win-
nifred Mayes. He was the
principal cellist of the Canton
Symphony Orchestra from
1979 to 1983 and performed
as the cellist of the Canton
Symphony String Quartet
from 1985-1987. Cappaert
also held the position of prin-
cipal cellist of the Ann Arbor
Symphony and now teaches
in Ann Arbor.
Cooker completed her train-
ing at the University of
Michigan with Gregory San-
dor and toured with cellist
Peter Rejto. She is a frequent
recitalist with Canadian
baritone Gary Relysa, and
collaborates regularly with
University of Michigan facul-
ty members, cellist Jeffrey
Solow and violinists Andres
Cardenes and Camilla Wicks.
Cooker is currently a
member of the faculty at the
Institute of Music and Dance.
The program will include
classical works by Copland,
Bloch, Jacoby and Ravel.

Ileitis Benefit
Slated Monday
A special screening of the
Bill Murray comedy, S croog-
ed, will be held on Monday at
the Northland Theatre. The
evening will begin with a pre-
glow party at 7 p.m., and will
continue with the movie
presentation at 8 p.m.
The event is a benefit for
the Michigan Chapter of the
National Foundation for Il-
eitis and Colitis Inc., a non-
profit voluntary organization
dedicated to improving the
quality of life for persons with
ileitis (Crohn's disease) and
ulcerative colitis, and to
discovering the causes and
cure of these chronic illnesses.

Snoopy, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. at the
