Three scholars will par-
ticipate in the Holocaust
Memorial Center's fall lec-
ture series beginning
Tuesday.
Prof. Harry James Cargas
of Webster Univeristy, St.
Louis, Mo., will be the open-
ing speaker. Founder and
associate editor of the journal,
Holocaust and Genocide
Studies, Dr. Cargas' lecture is
titled "Will Our Children Ac-
cuse Us?"
Dr. Cargas is the director of
community outreach and
church relations for the
United States Holocaust
Memorial Council. The only
Catholic ever appointed to the
international advisory coun-
cil of Yad Vashem, he also
holds leadership positions on
the National Christian
Leadership Conference for
Israel, the International
Committee of the Institute of
Contemporary Jewry, the
Hebrew University of
Jerusalem, and the St. Louis
Holocaust Commission. To
date, Prof. Cargas has
published more than 1,300
journal articles and 23 books.
Prof. Cargas has been
honored by the United Na-
tions Association with its
Human Rights Award and the

American Jewish Committee
with the Micah Award.
Prof. David Wyman will
present the second lecture in
the series on Dec. 6. The clos-
ing presentation will be made
by Prof. Randolph Braham on
Dec. 13.
Each lecture will be held in
Shiffman Hall of the
Maple/Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center at 7:30 p.m.
There is no charge, and the
community is invited. The
building is wheelchair ac-

Sinai's Osnos Award

Harry Cargas

The Third Annual Max
Osnos Award for Distinguish-
ed Leadership was presented
to Alfred L. Deutsch and
Maxwell Jospey at Sinai
Hospital's 36th annual cor-
porate meeting.
Deutsch is a past president
of the Sinai Board of Trustees
and the current chairman of
the hospital's parent corpora-
tion, Sinai Health Services.
He joined the Sinai board in
1968 and served as president
of the board of trustees from
1979 to 1981. During his
tenure as president, Sinai's
Emergency Care Center was
built and ground was broken
for Sinai's Mothers and In-
fants Center.
Jospey is also a past presi-
dent of the Sinai board, hav-
ing served from 1982 to 1984.
During his term, Sinai's first
suburban healthcare center
was opened in West Bloom-
field. Under his leadership,
additional suburban sites
were planned. Jospey is a
member of the Sinai board's
executive and finance
committees.
Osnos, founding president

of Sinai Hospital, died last
June.
Also at the annual meeting,
former chief of staff Dr.
Ronald Trunsky was
presented with a bronze
medallion "in recognition of
his continuing service at
Sinai."
The annual meeting plann-
ing commitee, chaired by Vice
Chairman of the Board
Carolyn Greenberg and board
member Leah Snider, also in-
cluded Sinai trustees Beth
Lowenstein, Irving Rubin,
Robert A. Steinberg, Bruce E.
Thal and Dr. Jerrold
Weinberg.

Blustein Talk
Is Scheduled

Branch 227 of Workmen's
Circle will host an evening
with Rabbi Allan M. Blus-
tein, director of pastoral care,
Sinai Hospital, at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday at the center, 26341
Coolidge, Oak Park.
Rabbi Blustein will speak
on the recent election in
Israel.
