Nelson, spiritual leader of Congrega- tion Beth Shalom, received the Community Rabbinical Award from the Council of Jewish Federations, Inc. Rab- bi Nelson first won the award in 1979. Rabbi Nelson received the award "in recognition of Rabbi David Nelson dedicated service to the com- munity and his congrega- tion." He has been affiliated with Congregation Beth Shalom since 1972. He is the presi- dent of the Michigan Board of Rabbis, president of the Con- servative Rabbis of Metro- politan Detroit, chairman of the Michigan Region of the Rabbinical Assembly, chair- man of the membership com- mittee of the Rabbinical Assembly, vice chairman of the Detroit Area Council, Boy Scouts of America Jewish Relationship Committee.
