Jerusalem (JPFS) — Several
Israeli companies listed on
the U.S. over-the-counter
market were recommended
recently as good long-term in-
vestments by analysts inter-
viewed recently in the Wall
Street Journal.
The article, appearing in
the OTC Focus column said
that after a severe battering
in the Black Monday market
crash, as well as poor U.S.
sales and an overvalued
shekel, most Israeli OTC
shares were ready for a corn-
eback. It quoted John
Westergaard of New York-
based Equity Research
Associates as saying: "Those
who are willing to take the

chance can make three to five
times their money" in the
next three years.
Westgaard said the key to
the turnaround is Israeli elec-
tions, which should be follow-
ed by the devaluation the in-
dustrial sector has been urg-
ing for many months. Israeli
companies listed on Nasdaq,
or the OTC, are principally
high technology concerns,
heavily dependent on export
sales.
The paper said the Israeli
companies have already
begun the turnaround
because of the country's lower
inflation and their efforts to
cut costs and introduce new
products.
