authentic
SULTAN'S
Lebanese restaurant on Or-
chard Lake Road in Robin's
Nest Shopping Center
(around the back) . . . is now
a seven-day-a-week operation.
There's a Sultan's fact
which many people do not
know . . . that besides being
one of the area's top Lebanese
restaurants, it also has a lot
of American dishes . . . albeit
they are cooked with
Lebanese sauces and herbs.
Sundays and Mondays only
is Cornish hen stuffed with
lamb, pine nuts and rice . .
To my knowledge, Walid Eid's
Sultan's is the only Lebanese
restaurant serving this.
There's frog legs marinated
in a special Sultan's sauce
and sauteed; chicken Provin-
cale, chunks of chicken breast
sauteed with garlic, shallots,
corriander herbs and fresh
lemon juice.
Catch of the day is big at
the very intimate and cozy
place which has become the
favorite of many . . . with its
pleasant coziness, frosted and
etched glass dividers between
booths, brick-like glass win-
dows, gray marble all around,
etc.

VIDEO CRITIQUE . . . by
Mike Dembs, owner of Video
Zone, who saw the flicks at
movie houses . . . Salsa. I did
something in this movie that
I haven't done in almost a
decade. I walked out. I didn't
have an appointment or got
hungry or anything. I just
couldn't take anymore of this
Hispanic Dirty Dancing.
Salsa has the most thread-
bare plot I have ever seen and
consists of nothing more than
music video afer music video,
dance sequence after dance
sequence, not to mention the
bad acting. O.K., let's men-
tion the bad acting. Don't
waste your time.
Hairspray. This is one of
those rare movies that put a
- smile on my face from begin-
ning to end. Director John
Walters (Pink . Flamingos,
Polyester) finally breaks
through on a commercial as
well as a critical plateau. It's
got super music, great acting
(Divine, Sonny Bono, Debbie
Harvey and Pia Zadora) and
breezy atmosphere from 1962
Baltimore. Just a fun, fun
movie."
