Jewish Telegraphic Agency Israeli Vote Tally Issued Jerusalem (JTA) — The Labor Party and the Likud have each gained a Knesset seat in the final tally of votes cast in Israel's nationwide parliamentary elections. The losers appear to be the two non-Zionist parties supported chiefly by Israel's Arab com- munity. After ballots cast by soldiers and by Israeli mer- chant seamen abroad were counted, the final vote results were announced last week. A total of 2,283,123 valid votes were cast in the elec- tions. They were split among 27 parties, 15 of which made it into the 12th Knesset. The key for winning a Knesset seat was 18,563 votes, or one-120th of the total number of votes cast. Three new parties that had shown promise according to preelection public opinion polls failed to win the minimum required. They are the Pensioners, which won 16,674 votes; Meimad, a moderate religious party, 15,783 votes; and Laor, 14,182 votes.
