Born in Detroit, Mrs. Red- mond was a member of Adat Shalom Synagogue, National Council of Jewish Women and active in its Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) pro- gram. She also was a former board member of Congrega- tion B'nai Moshe. She leaves her husband, Louis; a son, Dr. Eric; a daughter, Terri; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben V. (Betty) Logan. William Kiafer William Kiafer, owner of In- dependent Linen Supply, died Nov. 3 at age 92. Born in Poland, Mr. Klafer lived 77 years in Detroit. Hewas active in Allied Jewish Campaign, Histadrut and B'nai B'rith. He also was a 30-year member of Congrega- tion B'nai David and former chairman of the Detroit Linen Association. He is survived by his wife, Jean; a son, Ronald of Stockton, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Gor- don and Mrs. Gerald (Eileen) Granadier; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Joseph Joffre Montreal (JTA) — Joseph Joffre, believed to be the oldest living Jew, died Nov. 7 at age 113. The father of 15 children, Mr. Joffre came to Canada in 1893, having previously earn- ed a doctorate in chemistry in Germany. He studied in Lon- don, where he was ordained a rabbi. He worked in Cana- dian hospitals as a chemist and founded an artificial limb company in Ottawa. He founded two chemical com- panies in Montreal, following his military service.
