This space contributed as a public service.
In order to accommodate in- -
dividuals needing short-term
temporary living arrange-
ments, to provide respite for
caregivers and give residents
a place to have visitors stay,
two formerly unused spas
were designated for this pur-
pose beginning Thanksgiving
weekend at the Jewish Home
for Aged's Fleischman
Residence/Blumberg Plaza on
the Jewish Community Cam-
pus in West Bloomfield.
Reservations can be made for
up to 30 days.
These rooms in a hotel-like
setting with 24-hour security
allow visitors the opportuni-
ty to participate in a tradi-
tional Jewish community at-
mosphere. Three kosher
meals are served. Daily, Shab-
bat and holiday services, led
by the staff rabbi and volun-
teers, are held in the
Fleischman Residence/Blum-
berg Plaza sanctuary. In addi-
tion, the building and kitchen
are kashered for Pesach and
a sukkah is erected for
Sukkot.
Structured programming,
including exercise classes,
movies, social events, perfor-
mances and out-trips, is avail-
ble to guests on a daily basis.
The Jewish Community
Center is just steps away.
Transportation to doctors' ap-
pointments or for personal
business can be arranged
with advance notice. A bus
goes weekly to a nearby shop-
ping center.
Guests must be ambulatory
and able to take care of
themselves without bringing
their own private duty assis-
tant. Staff cannot provide ex-
tensive assistance. For infor-
mation, call the JHA social
worker, 661-2999. For reser-
vations, call the JHA recep-
tionist, 661-2999. There is a
charge.
