Detroit's United Hebrew Schools has been con- sidering joining with U-M to further develop and expand the department's computer and interactive video projects, with the possibility of even- tually beginning a similar center of its own as a pilot project within the Detoit Jewish community. Group Backs Jailed Reservist A jailed Israeli reserve lieutenant has become the first "refusenik" adopted by the Ann Arbor Friends of Yesh G'vul. Yesh G'vul is a grass-roots organization of Israeli reserve soldiers who refuse to serve in the West Bank and Gaza. Daniel De Mal'ach became the 42nd soldier to be jailed for refusing to serve in the territories since the Palesti- nian uprising began in December 1987. Yesh G'vul gives the refusenik's dependents $450 to partially replace the loss of the national insurance sti- pend given to reservists. Friends of Yesh G'vul in- clude Ann Arbor New Jewish Agenda, the Progressive Zionist Caucus, and the Southeast Michigan Political Committee of Americans for Progressive Israel.
