tive with the Theatre
Workshop. She is now co-
chairman of the adult ac-
tivities committee of the
Jewish Centre.
"Besides playing the lead in
Damn Yankees, Dan is also
the co-chairman of the Cen-
tre's physical education com-
mittee." (Alan Orman, who
played Sky Masterson in that
early production of Guys and
Dolls is now president of the
Jewish Centre.)
When Potashner says
"young people," she means
those in their 30s and 40s.
"Our goal is to get them in-
volved now so we can ensure
the future health of the Cen-
tre. Many of the cast and crew
have young children or
children on the way. They
view their involvement as a
stepping stone for their
children."
"I've been impressed with
the commitment this group
has to Theatre Workshop and
the Jewish Centre," says
Director Pat Laing. "They're
all busy people with lives of
their own. The fact that
they're willing to come out
and rehearse two and three
times a week really says a
lot."
Laing's cast and crew
return the praise. "Pat is an
absolute natural," they say.
"She rules with an iron fist
and a heart of gold."
Laing, who teaches a class
called "Movement for the Ac-
tor" at the University of
Windsor and is completing
her graduate studies at
Wayne State University, also
is recognized for her produc-
tions of gala benefit shows to
raise monay for the hospice
unit of Windsor's Metro-
politan General Hospital.
Appearing with Dan Or-
man are: Miriam Lazarus as
Meg, Joe's wife; Frank
Mendleson as Applegate, the
devil figure; and, Valerie
Belinko as the sultry Lola.
The leads will be backed by
Musical Director Ian Smith.
Damn Yankees opens Satur-
day at 8 p.m. Tickets include
a wine and cheese party at
7:15 p.m. Performances will
be held on Sunday at
7:30 p.m.; Nov. 12, 8 p.m.; and
Nov. 13, 7:30 p.m.
