school and college star in
baseball and football at Lane
Tech in Chicago, Benton Har-
bor High, and Western State
Teachers College in
Kalamazoo. In 1924, he was
hired as Northwestern's foot-
► ball coach. When he retired
44 years later, his teams had
won six city championships
plus two state titles. His
baseball and track teams also
won championships. He died
in 1977, after his election to
► the Michigan Sports Hall of
Fame.
All three of this year's
honorees will be inducted in-
to the Hall at the annual ban-
quet on Nov. 7 at Congrega-
▪ tion Shaarey Zedek. TV per-
sonality Monty Hall will be
the master of ceremonies.
