so as not to blur the separa-
tion of religion and state.
"If it is outside (city hall), in
the general area used for
displays, it should be of no
concern," he said.
"Tradition is tradition," he
said, when asked why the ci-
ty did not just put its
Christmas decorations on
church property. "We have
seen displays like this in front
of city halls for a long time.
"It was the U.S. and
Michigan governments that
made Christmas a public
holiday," Kingsepp added.
The ACLU's Denenfeld
maintains all four
municipalities violate the
spirit of the Pawtucket ruling.
In that display, the nativity
scene was dwarfed by the
other decorations, spread over
a huge park, he said.
"Our position is, in all of
these cases, the dominant
figure is the Christian nativi-
ty scene."

said Rabbi Cohn, regional
director of the National Con-
ference of Synagogue Youth
and one of the drive sponsors.
"The Medrash teaches us
that God created the world .
with an individual, and
therefore he who saves one
life is as one who has saved an
entire world."
The blood drive is being
held in cooperation with the
Roche Biomedical Laborator-

Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
All participants' results will
be recorded on both national

in the hopes that someone
will be able to benefit in find-
ing suitable donors for bone
marrow transplants.

of the testing can be sent to
