At the Kaplan Center, Dr.
Zvi Bentwich is a primary
force in AIDS research.
Trained at the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem and
a visiting professor at such
medical institutions as Har-
vard University Medical
School and the UCLA School
of Medicine, Dr. Bentwich is
a physician and im-
munologist. He, along with
research colleagues at the
Weizmann Institute have, on
a shoestring budget,
developed several drugs
which have been found to in-
hibit the spread of AIDS.
Among these is the compound
derived from the egg yolk
called AL-721 which has no
accompanying side effects.
