ship endowment fund to
benefit students at Kfar
Silver, the Zionist Organiza-
tion of America's multi-
purpose center for academic
and vocational education
near Ashkelon, Israel, it was
announced by Rabbi M.
Robert Syme, president of the
Metro Detroit ZOA.

tion award to WWJ radio's Gary Baumgarten.

Broadcaster Wins ADL
Award For Israel Series

The Michigan Regional
Board of the Anti-Defamation
League of B'nai B'rith (ADL)
honored WWJ radio's Gary
Baumgarten with the presen-
tation of a special apprecia-
tion award recognizing "his
outstanding series on Israel,"
aired locally last April.
In addition to the media ap-
preciation award to
Baumgarten, ADL presented
a series of special awards call-
ed "ABCD" or above and

beyond the call of duty. These
went to ADL board members
"for extraordinary service."
ABCD awards were Sheri
Schiff, Nancy Schonberg,
Alan Hurvitz, Hanan Lis,
Judy Loebl.

A new award, the Shirley
Plotnick Outstanding
Volunteer Award was
presented to Anne Vinocur
"for her ongoing activities
within the ADL office."
