Parenting Topic
Of SZ Series

The Jewish Experiences or
Families Committee of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek, in
cooperation with the Beth
Hayeled Nursery School, will
present a program titled
"Mensch-Making."
The program is for parents
to learn about and discuss
issues of parenting.
"Spending Quality Time:
Creating Jewish Experiences
for Your Family" will be the
topic of Thursday's session. It
will illustrate ways in which
to juggle busy schedules and
the pressures of everyday liv-
ing and still spend quality
time with your family. Janice
Goldfein, a clinical social
worker, and Rabbi Irwin
Groner of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek will make
presentations.
On Oct. 27, a panel discus-
sion will be conducted on
"How Do You Talk to Your
Child About God?" The panel
will consist of Associate Rab-
bi William Gershon; Dr. Mark
Smiley, principal of Jewish
Studies, Hillel Day School;
and Dr. Alicia Tisdale, a child
and family psychologist.
The sessions wil be held at
the Beth Hayeled, West
Bloomfield Branch, at 7:30
p.m. Chairman for the pro-
gram is Tobye Bello. J.E.F.F.
committee co-chairmen are
Karen Adelman and Paula
Glazier.

Intermarriage
Workshops Set

The Birmingham Temple
will hold an intermarriage
workshop at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20
and 27. Two family
therapists, Chuck Kramer
and Judy Schneider, will lead
the group discussions. People
contemplating intermarriage,
couples involved in intermar-
riage, parents of intermarried
children, and offspring of in-
termarriages are invited.
There is a charge. For infor-

Southfield Holds
Book Sale

Southfield's semi-annual
book sale takes place Tuesday
through Thursday at the
Southfield Civic Center
Pavilion.
The books qualify as a tax
credit for those who donate.
The sale raises funds for
special library projects. Hours
are 9:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Tues-
day and Wednesday, and
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.
