The Woman's Auxiliary of
the United Hebrew Schools
will hold a donor luncheon on
Nov. 9 at 12:15 p.m. at Con-
gregation Beth Achim. The
entertainment will be provid-
ed by Abraham Ben Ze'ev and
his ABZ Orchestra. A former
student of United Hebrew
Schools, Ben Ze'ev and his
quartet will play a variety of
Hebrew and Yiddish folk
music and classical pieces.
Funds raised at this affair
will help to provide scholar-
ships for United Hebrew
Schools' students to' attend
Hebrew-speaking summer
camps and grants for study
programs in Israel. Contribu-
tions are also made to the
Midrasha Library, prizes are
awarded to the United
Hebrew Schools nursery
school program, and for
writing and art contests for
United Hebrew Schools'
students.
The donor luncheon plann-
ing committee includes
Marion Bronstein, chairman,
Jean Alspector, Bess Axelrod,
Shula Boros, Joan Bussell
and Jean Levy.

Genealogist

The opening meeting of the
League of Jewish Women's
Organizations of Greater
Detroit will be held on
Wednesday at Temple Israel
at 12:15 p.m.
The meeting will honor all
presidents of Jewish women's

organizations. The program
will feature Betty Provizer
Starkman speaking on
"Routes to Roots — Exploring
Jewish Genealogy."
Mrs. Starkman received her
master's degree at Wayne
State University and the
University of Wisconsin. She
is the founder of the Jewish
Genealogy Society of
Michigan. She writes mon-
thly for The Jewish News as
well as for many genealogical
publications. She is a lecturer
and teacher on the subject of
genealogy.
There is a nominal charge.
Desserts and coffee will be
served. The community is
invited.
