The Young Israel Teens
Chapter of the National
Council of Synagogue Youth
is organizing a Detroit
delegation to go to this year's
first Central East Region
Shabbaton which will take
place Thursday through Oct.
16 in Indianapolis.
Teens from Detroit,
Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Col-
umbus, Cincinnati, Dayton,
Louisville and Indianapolis
will attend. The theme of the
weekend is "Does Rambo
Need Tzitzit? A Look at
Jewish Heroes." Jewish
educators from all over the
United States also will at-
tend. In addition, the ad-
visory staff is made up of
yeshiva students from
Yeshiva University, Stern
College for Women, Touro
College and Ner Israel Rab-
binical Seminary in
Baltimore. Guest speaker at
the Shabbaton will be Rabbi
Moshe Krupka, national
NCSY director of
programming.
Cost for the weekend in-
cludes all meals, admissions,
housing and transportation
at the event. For information,

B'nei Akiva
Goes Skating
The Chevreyah Zach, junior
chapter of B'nei Akiva, will
hold a roller-skating event
Sunday, meeting at Young
Israel of Southfield at 2:30
p.m. to go to the Bonadven-
ture Roller Rink in Farming-
ton Hills. Students in grades
six-eight are welcome. Elec-
tions for the Zach youth board
will be held folowing the
skating event. For informa-

The Chevreyah Aleph
Chapter, for youth in grades
one-six is invited to join B'nei
Akiva in the community-wide
event, "Knowing Noah,"
which will be held Sunday at
1 p.m. Activities include arts
and crafts, storytelling, a pet-
ting zoo and a performance by
the musical group, "Gemini."
The group will meet at 1 p.m.
at the Young Israel of Green-
field. The event is free of
charge for B'nei Akiva
