LET US HOST YOUR
SPECIAL OCCASION

ding professional theater.
When not performing, her
first love is travel. Having
visited Israel in 1983 through
the World Union of Jewish
Students, a graduate pro-
gram, she "can't wait" to go
back.
Does she ever have doubts
about devoting so much of her
time to community theater?
"About five minutes before
each show starts, I'm sure I'm
going to throw up and I feel
like I have to go to the
bathroom," she says, smiling.
"I start questioning myself
and asking myself, 'Why in
the world am I doing this?' It
doesn't matter if I'm just in
the chorus, or if I have a lead,
it's always the same, and I'm
no different now than I was
before my very first perfor-
mance. I get so nervous, I
think I'm going to die.
"And then, as soon as the
music is playing and the cur-
tain goes up and the show
starts, it changes — because
I'm not me anymore; I'm a
character. It's as if I'm
somehow removed from
myself, watching myself
perform.
"That's the beauty of it —
you really are someone else."
