Lunch And Learn
Features Sperka

Shlomo Sperka, director of
the bureau of employment
relations of the Michigan
Department of Labor, will be
the guest speaker for "Lunch
and Learn" Oct. 15 at Young
Israel of Oak Woods.
The "Lunch and Learn"
series features a luncheon
with guest speaker folowing
morning services and kid-
dush at the synagogue.
Sperka attended Wayne
State University, Brooklyn
Law School and the Rab-
binical Seminary of America.
He formerly served as an at-
torney with the National
Labor Relations Board, and
as an administrative law
judge with the Michigan
Employment Relations
commission.
Sperka's "Lunch and
Learn" topic will be "A
Lawyer Looks at Halachah."
The community is invited.
There is a charge, and paid
reservations are required. For

Torah Club
Starts Sessions

The B'nai Moshe Torah
Club will begin its eight-
session adult education series
at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 in the con-
gregation's board room.
The study series will be
built around the theme "Pro-
phecy — Man's Attempt to
Encounter God." The opening
session will deal with "The
Challenges of Prophecy."
There is a charge.
The series will be repeated
at the Jewish Community
Center's Maple/Drake Build-
ing, beginning Oct. 23. The
public is invited.

Women Create
Torah Cover

Seven Temple Kol Ami
members recently created a
needlepoint Torah cover for
the newest addition to the
congregation's Torah
collection.
The Ibrah is a gift from the
Luftig family and comes from
Congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses.
Sisterhood president Ilene
Lee coordinated the year-long
project. Other volunteers
were Soralee Broida, Lorraine
Fenster, Judy Naddleberg,
Gail Raben, Arlene Saffer,
Helen Wexler and Varda
Ahavi.
