Cocktails will be served at 5:30 p.m., with dinner following. Rabbi M. Robert Syme of Thmple Israel will be the evening's speaker. A native of Romania, Mrs. Eisenberg came to the United States in 1949. She is a charter member of the Israel Cancer Association, Michi- gan Branch, of which she has been a vice president, and president for six terms. She was instrumental in starting the Hanoar Chapter, the young leaders division, which will co-host the evening. Mrs. Eisenberg is a member of Ivan S. Bloch Chapter of B'nai B'rith, Albert Einstein Chapter of B'nai B'rith, Anti- Defamation League, Shaare Zedek Hospital and is a past president of the United Social Club. Called the Family Living Room, the program involves dealing with contemporary Jewish issues by watching TV and movies such as "Archie's Place," The Jazz Singer, "Bill Cosby Show" and "Taxi" and- participating in innovative, interactive activities. These sessions will provide an in- depth study of Jewish values and sacred Jewish texts which deal with these values. The first part of the pro- gram, Oct. 9, will revolve around the theme "Jewish Identity" and will include viewing and follow-up discus- sion of an episode of "Archie's Place." On Oct. 16, the pro- gram will be "From the Marx Brothers to Woody Allen: A Look at the Best and Worst in Ourselves," a program on Jewish identity in film with Dr. Joseph Gomez, a film critic. Film clips from The Jazz Singer and discussion on Jewish identity as reflected in this film's different versions will be the Oct. 23 program. A "Jewish Detroit" field trip is planned for Oct. 30 The theme for the second part of the program is "Tzedakah." The schedule is as follows: Nov. 6, video, "The Clown"; Nov. 10, Danny Siegel, noted poet, author and "Tzedakah Man" will speak on 116 ways to perform a mitzvah; Nov. 13, Tzedakah- Mitzvah Day, providing for the needy in the community and accompanying project; Nov. 18-20, Shabbaton, "Helping Ourselves by Help- ing Others."
