Ornstein To Head Board
For Hillel Foundations

Alexander Ornstein has
been elected president of the
board of governors of the
B'nai B'rith Hillel Founda-
tions of Metropolitan Detroit.
The boad of governors
oversees the activities of
Jewish student and faculty
groups at Wayne State
University, Oakland Univer-
sity and other institutions of
higher education in the
Detroit area.
Ornstein is a member of
Shaarey Zedek and of Bais
Chabad of Farmington Hills.
Ornstein received his law
degree from the Detroit Col-
lege of Law in 1972, after on-
ly two years of study. He earn-
ed his under-graduate degree
from Washburn University in
1969. Before he became a
lawyer, Ornstein worked as
a vocational rehabilitation
counselor for New Horizons,
in connection with sheltered
workshops for the handicap-
ped. He also is a certified
social worker in Michigan.
He is on the executive board
of the Anti-Defamation
League of B'nai B'rith and on
the board of the B'nai B'rith
Youth Organization. He is a
past president of the B'nai
B'rith Council of Metro-

politan Detroit and has been
a lodge and unit president
with B'nai B'rith. He was
vice president of B'nai B'rith
District Six, a territory com-
prising eight states and more
than 20,000 members.
He also is admitted to prac-
tice before the United States
Supreme Court and is a
member of the Detroit Bar
Association, the State Bar of
Michigan, the Association of
Trial Lawyers of America,
among others.
