chairman, Michigan Region
ARMDI will offer remarks.
Dr. Conrad L. Giles, presi-
dent Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion, Joel Dorfman and Rab-
bi Irwin Groner, Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek, will pay
tribute to the honorees.
Presentation of the
Distinguished Humanitarian
Service Award will be made
by Dr. Morris Starkman,
chairman, Medical-Dental
Council. Rabbi Herbert S.
Eskin, officer of the Michigan
Region, will recite the
benediction. Music will be
provided by Eric Rosenow and
his Continentals.

The testimonial dinner will
aid the humanitarian and
lifesaving programs of Magen
David Adorn (MDA), Israel's
Emergency Medial Blood and
Ambulance Service. It will
also help to alleviate the
MDA cash flow shortage.

A recent leadership cocktail
reception hosted and chaired
by Rae Ann and Donald
Sharfman in advance of the
American Red Magen David
for Israel (ARMDI) annual
testimonial dinner-dance net-
ted two fully-equipped Mobile
Intensive Care Units in addi-
tion to funds for the emergen-
cy equipment for the new
blood services center and
hemophiliac-leukemia ser-
vices. Max Sosin, immediate
past honoree, assisted the
fund-raising.
The testimonial dinner-
dance scheduled for Oct. 6 at
6 p.m. at Adat Shalom
Synagogue will honor Henry
and Mala Dorfman. Irving
Laker, dinner chairman, will
be assisted by Joel Dorfman
and Herbert L. Rechter,
associate chairmen, and the
tribute committee.
Cantor Louis Klein of Con-
gregation B'nai Moshe will
lead the anthems, and the in-
vocation will be delivered by
Herbert Rechter. Greetings
will be extended by Rabbi
Efry Spectre, Adat Shalom

Tam-O-Shanter Country
Club, holder of the State of
Israel's Country Club Award
for its long-time sponsorship
of Israel Bond events, has
scheduled its 14th annual
Israel Bond dinner for Oct. 8,
with cocktails at 7 p.m. and
dinner at 8 p.m.
The dinner, to be held at the
club, will honor Tam member
Dr. David Jacknow of Bloom-
field Hills, recipient-elect of

Israel's 40th Anniversary
Award.
Dr. Jacknow, now retired,
was president and medical
director of the Detroit In-
dustrial Clinic. He served for
several years as chief of
medical staff at Detroit-
Macomb Hospitals and was
president of the Michigan Oc-
cupational Medical Associa-
tion 1987-1988.
