Barbara and Irving Nusbaum, center, received honorary fellowships from
Bar-Han University at its annual Detroit dinner. Sharon Hart and
Lawrence S. Jackier, left, chaired this event, which was Bar-Ilan's most
successful ever held in Detroit. David Hermelin, right, a lifelong friend of
the Nusbaums and a member of Bar-Ilan's American board of overseers,
presented the fellowships. The evening also marked the inauguration of
the Barbara and Irving Nusbaum Post-Doctorate Medical Research Fund.

Annual Election Meeting

Jewish Federation Apart-
ments, Inc. will hold its an-
nual meeting and dinner at 6
p.m. Oct. 19 at the Anna and
Meyer Prentis Towers in Oak
park, President Dr. Hershel
Sandberg announced. Elec-
tion of directors and officers
will take place.
Slated by the nominating
committee are: Robert
Schecter, Gilbert Silverman,
Rabbi Lane Steinger and
Harvey Wolf for an additional
three-year term. New can-
didates for an initial three-
year term are Roslyn Blanck,
Jan Hauser, Rick Rosenhaus
and Allen Singer.
In accordance with the by-
laws other persons may be
nominated by petition signed
by not less than 50 members
of the corporation and filed
with Helen Naimark, ex-
ecutive director, not less than
10 days prior to the date of
the annual meeting.
Only one person may be
nominated in each petition

and no nomination shall be
valid unless the nominee
shall have consented to be a
candidate.

Membership in the Jewish
Federation Apartments shall
consist of those individuals
who have made a contribu-
tion to the most recently com-
pleted Allied Jewish Cam-
paign. In addition, any person
interested in the purposes of
Jewish Federation Apart-
ments, Inc. and desiring to
become a member may sub-
mit an application for
membership to the board of
directors.
The board of directors may
admit such person to
membership upon the affir-
mative vote of two-thirds of
the directors of the
corporation.
The nominating committee,
chaired by Sheldon
Winkelman, includes Mar-
jorie Krasnick, Lauren Liss,
Rose Roth and Marvin Talen.
