Yolkut will officiate and Cantor Stuart Friedman will chant the liturgy. 1 SYNAGOGUES — Temple Begins 'Giraffe Club' The first meeting for the "Jewish Giraffe Club/Jewish Deep Sea Divers" will take place during the Oneg Shab- bat Sept. 23 at Temple Beth Jacob in Pontiac. Services begin at 8:30 p.m. The idea for this new group was based on a television pro- gram which showed a "giraffe club" for people willing to "stick their necks out," and on the Midrash saying that the waters of the Red Sea did not part until the Jews ac- tually jumped in. Tour Includes Synagogues The City of Southfield Tours will host a trip to explore the churches and synagogues of Southfield beginning at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 20. The trip is the third in a series sponsored by the Southfield Cultural Arts, Parks and Recreation and the Arts Council. The tour will include three houses of worship. Temple Shows 'Duddy Kravitz' In conjunction with the Oct. 17 visit to the Birmingham Temple by Canadian Jewish author Mordecai Richler, the temple's Social Action Com- mittee will present The Ap- prenticeship of Duddy Kravitz at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
