Women Get JVS Assistance Jewish Vocational Service (JVS), a non-sectarian agency, offers an on-going Displaced Homemaker Program funded by the Michigan Department of Labor, Office of Women and Work, for individuals in Wayne and Oakland Counties. Displaced homemakers are women who, through divorce, separation, widowhood, or disability of spouse, have lost their source of economic sup- port. After spending a substantial number of years in the home caring for fami- ly members, displaced homemakers find returning to the job market a difficult transition. The JVS Displaced Homemaker Program pro- vides vocational assessment, vocational counseling, job seeking skills and job place- ment assistance.Eligibility is based on marital and employ- ment status. German Resistance A photographic exhibit documenting the German resistance movement during World War II will be on display today through Oct. 2 at Mercy College of Detroit. The 20 free-standing, double- sided panels will be displayed in the college's library cour- tyard, which is open to the public every day according to the following schedule: Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. There is no charge.
