"Inter-Jewish Dialogue:
Six Basic Questions of Judaism"

In conjunction with the American Jewish Commit-
tee and moderated by Zvi Gittelman, this special
one time program will feature a panel of Rabbis
from the Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and
Humanist/Secular movements in the metropoli-
tan Detroit area. They include: Rabbi Lane
Steinger (Temple Emanuel), Rabbi Daniel F.
Polish (Temple Beth El), Rabbi Sherwin Wine
(Birmingham Temple), Rabbi David
Nelson(Cong. Beth Shalom), Rabbi Allan S.
Meyerowitz (Cong. B'nai Moshe), Rabbi Elime-
lech Goldberg (Young Israel of Southfield). Six
basic questions of Judaism will be discussed from
various perspectives and interpretations in a lively
and informative program. The program will be
held Wednesday night, October 26, 7:30 p.m. at
the Maple Drake Building. There is no charge for
this program; the community is invited.

Rabbi Daneel Schwartz
Rabbis Meyerowitz and Schwartz will share new
perspectives and insights on the miracle of being
Jewish in America and the magic Judaism holds
for each of us in so many different ways. Out-
standing anecdotes from pulpit experiences will
also highlight this one-time program to be held,
Tuesday night, November 1. (Rabbi Meyerowitz
is Rabbi at Congregation B'nai Moshe; Rabbi
Schwartz is the Rabbi at Temple Shir Shalom.)

This how-to course will run 5 weeks and will teach
the basics to participants to prepare for their
journey to Hebrew reading literacy. Alenu's
CRASH COURSE has proven itself already to be
a success - join up.

TH22 Growing up Jewish in 1988

Rabbi Allan S. Meyerowitz
Rabbis Roman and Meyerowitz will discuss the

challenges and triumphs of growing up Jewish in
1988! In this one-time program, the Rabbis will
share some insights and perspectives as pulpit
Rabbis in the metropolitan Detroit area. This
program will be held Thursday night, October 20
at the JPM Building. (Rabbi Roman is the Rabbi
at Temple Kol Ami; Rabbi Meyerowitz is the Rabbi
at Congregation B'nai Moshe.)

Eugene Goldberg
Participants will be encouraged to question basic
texts of Judaism in this open five part series. A
stimulating discussion of Bible, Talmud, Midrash,
and Biblical commentaries will take place. (An-
swers are not guaranteed!)

This five-part series will explore the key concepts
that have enriched Jewish married life throughout
the years. 'twill also feature some Jewish wisdom
dealing with the responsibilities of relationships -
the pleasures and pains of relating to others.

This special lecture has previously been given at
the Library of Congress's current exhibit, spon-
sored in collaboration with the U.S. Holocaust
Memorial Council, titled "Nazi Book Burnings and
the American Response" and presented by
Wayne State University's own Professor Guy
Stern.
