"There is no reason that
that should scare anybody,"
he said of Jackson's influence.
"The principles and beliefs
that I outlined tonight are
principles and beliefs that I
have held for a long time.
Jesse and I disagreed on this
issue through the primary,
through the convention.
Everybody knows that.
"And I believe we are going
to win very solid support in
the Jewish community be-
cause the Jewish community
is concerned about Israel; it is
also concerned about eco-
nomic opportunities, housing
1 and civil rights, the separa-
tion of church and state and
many things which tradi-
tionally have been of great
concern to the Jewish com-
munity. And in all these
respects, in respect to my ap-
proach to Israel as well
domestic priorities, I think
it's the Democratic ticket that
much more accurately
reflects the concerns and
hopes and aspirations of the
Jewish community."

opposed aid to Israel and has
voted for arms sales to Arab
