Hermelin is chairman of the Campaign's major gifts section. Secretary of state under two presidents, Dr. Kissinger also served as national security adviser for six years. After leaving the State Depart- ment, Kissinger accepted the positions of university pro- fessor of diplomacy at the School of Foreign Service and counselor to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, both at Georgetown University. Kissinger recent- ly served as chairman of the Bipartisan Commission on Central America. Norman A. Pappas is chair- man of the $25,000 Commit- tee. Marvin H. Goldman, Dr. Joseph M. Ephron will speak to the Advance Gifts section at noon, at the home of Bernice Gershenson in Bloomfield Hills. Author of the novel Heart- burn and an Academy Award nominee for the screenplay of Silkwood, Ephron is author of several novels including Scribble, Scribble, Crazy Salad and Crazy Salad Plus Nine. She is a former contributing editor for both Esquire and New York magazines and a former reporter for the New York Post. Upcoming Women's Divi- sion Campaign events include the Lion of Judah fund-raiser with singer Mary Travers on Oct. 21 and a meeting with Rabbi Daniel Polish of Temple Beth El on Nov. 10. Workers Rally For Campaign The second annual Cam- paign Workers Breakfast Ral- ly will be held 8:45 a.m. Sept. 25 at Adat Shalom Synagogue. In addition to information about the Allied Jewish Cam- paign, Worker Education and Training Chairmen James M. August and Susan Citrin will lead a skit called "Let's Make a Shiddach!" The rally will also include campaign reports and the premiere of "You Make the Difference," filmed at two local agencies and in Poland and Israel. Penny Blumenstein and Michael S. Feldman are worker education and train- ing associate chairmen. Knesseter To Speak Here The Workmen's Circle District Committee will host Dedi (David) Zucker, a member of the Israeli Knesset representing the Civil Rights and Peace Move- ment (RATZ), at the Workmen's Circle Center, 26341 Coolidge, Oak Park, on Saturday, at 8 p.m. Zucker served in the Israeli Army from 1966-1969. In 1977, he and three other Israeli army officers founded the "Peace Now" movement. Since 1986 he has been a member of the Knesset. He serves on Knesset Finance Committee. In July, he published a report, "Human Rights Viola- tions in the Occupied Ter- ritories." The public is in- vited. There is no charge. Cancer Program For Parents Children's Hospital of Michigan has developed "Reaching Into the Future," a program that helps parents cope with childhood cancer. The program provides infor- mation, education and sup- port to these families. "Reaching Into the Future" is a seven-week program that will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m., starting Sept. 29, at the hospital.
