Movie Event
For B'nei Akiva

B'nei Akiva members of the
Chevreyah Bet Chapter (high
school) are invited to a special
movie event entitled, "How to
Make 'It's a Wonderful Life'
Yours" at 3 p.m. Sunday in
the home of Nancy Berman,
23144 Morningside Dr.,
Southfield. A movie will be
shown, after which Dr. David
Weingarten will lead the
group in a discussion and rap
session on "The Importance
of the Individual in Jewish
Life." An ice cream social will
follow the event.
The Chevreyah Aleph
Chapter of B'nei Akiva,
grades one-six, will go apple-
picking on Sunday, leaving 2
p.m. from Young Israel of
Southfield for Erwin's Apple
orchard.
TheThe B'nei Akiva
membership drive is now
underway for the 1988-1989
year. Youth who sign up as
members by Oct. 31 will be
eligible for special discount
rates on all B'nei Akiva
events and conventions, as
well and will receive special
national B'nei Akiva publica-
tions throughout the year. For

New Adviser
For Local NCSY

Stuart Sandweiss has been
selected as the Naitonal Con-
ference of Synagogue
Youth/Young Israel Teens ad-
viser for the new year. He was
an active member of United
Synagogue Youth and served
as an international U.S.Y. vice
president. He also has spent
time studying in various
yeshivot throughout the
eastern United States.

Sandweiss' first activity as
the new adviser will be the
chapter's annual membership
Shabbaton which will take
place today through Sunday.
The theme for the weekend
will be "Why Be Jewish?" In-
cluded in the program will be
a debate among participants
and a keynote address given
by Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg
of Young Israel of Southfield.
There also will be a variety of
social programs throughout
the Shabbaton. There will be
a post-Shabbat probram in
the home of chapter President
Joey Selesny.
