She leaves a brother, Dr. Seymour of Flint; a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Shiela) Benjamin. Evelyn August Evelyn B. August, a foun- ding member of the Sinai Hospital Guild, died Aug. 31 at age 85. Born in Chicago, Ill., Mrs. August lived 64 years in Detroit. She was a life member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek, Franklin Hills Country Club, National Council of Jewish Women, Hadassah, United Jewish Ap- peal, Jewish Association for Retarded Citizens, Women's American ORT and Brandeis University National Women's Committee. She leaves a son, Martin B. of Los Angeles; a daughter, Mrs. Coleman (Shirley) Mop- per; and four grandchildren. Couple Dies Joseph, 84, and Bessie "Bee" Dunn, 77, died last week within hours of each other. Mr. Dunn was born in Detroit. He was co-founder and co-owner of Majestic News at the corner of Wood- ward and Michigan for more than 50 years. He retired in 1973. He also was a real estate developer who built and owned the Dryden Court Apts. on Rochester in Detroit. He was a member of Masonic Lodge of the Masons. Mrs. Dunn was born in Toronto, Ont. She was a member of Zedakah Club and B'nai B'rith Women. The Dunns leave two sons, Stephen and Andrew. Mr. Dunn also leaves a brother, Jack of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Nettye) Buchalter. Bernard Fieger Bernard Julian Fieger, an attorney and senior partner in the law firm of Fieger and Fieger, died Sept. 3 at age 66. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y, Mr. Fieger was graduated from Harvard Law School in 1948. He came to Detroit in 1950. Shortly after his arrival in Detroit, he founded Oberer, Lee and Fieger, the second in- terracial law firm in the city. Mr. Fieger was secretary- treasurer of the National Lawyers Guild, and in the civil rights movement he represented black defendants in Mississippi. From 1964 to 1981, Mr. Fieger was general counsel of the Michigan Federation of Teachers. A specialist in labor law, he served as arbitrator in hun- dreds of labor disputes. He leaves his wife, June; two sons, Geoffrey and Douglas; a daughter, Beth; and a brother, Gary. Lin Yaldati, Yiddish Singer Amsterdam (JTA) — Lin Yaldati, an Amsterdam-born singer of Yiddish songs, died in East Berlin at age 76. She and her husband, the German conductor Eberhard Rebling, were couriers for the Dutch Resistance, and also gave illegal concerts of Yid- dish and anti-Nazi music. Ms. Yaldati was in Bergen-Belsen wih Anne and Margot Frank and claimed to have helped bury the girls. Ms. Yaldati and her family performed her Yiddish reper- toire in East Germany and Wetern Europe. The entire family gave a concert tourof the American northeast in November 1986 as guests of the Ann Frank Center of New York. The couple recorded several Yiddish record albums and compiled a Yid- dish songbook, Es Brent, Brider, Es Brent (It's Burning, Brother, It's Burning). MONUMENTS BY Sidney A.
