Hermelin Gives
Nusbaum Tribute

David Hermelin, a member
of Bar-Ilan University's
American Board of overseers,
will present honorary
fellowships to Barbara and Ir-
ving Nusbaum at the univer-
sity's dinner to be held
Wednesday at Congregtion
Shaarey Zedek.
Hermelin and Nusbaum
served jointly as Bar-Ilan's
Detroit general chairmen
from 1976 to 1978.
In addition to the repesen-
tation of the fellowships, the
dinner will mark the in-
auguration of the Barbara
and Irving Nusbaum Post-
Doctorate Medical Research
Fund. The income from this
endowed fund will be used to
allow Bar-Ilan's most promis-
ing medical scientists to do
their post-doctorate work at
prestigious research centers.

Kadima Plans
Fund-Raiser

Selections from Broadway
musicals will be presented by
the Michigan Opera Theater
at Kadima's first fund-raiser
Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Tem-
ple Beth El. Tax-deductible
tickets are still available.
Kadima provides residen-
tial care for Jewish adults
with mental illness and cur-
rently operates the Rabbi
Solomon Gruskin Home in
Southfield. The six men and
women who live there are
assisted by 24-hour staff in
learning daily living skills,
gaining employment, develop-
ing leisure activities and
working toward self-suffi-
ciency. They also have kosher
meals, Shabbat dinners, ob-
serve Jewish hoidays, attend
nearby synagogues and other
Jewish cultural and social
events.
More than 75 more people,
many of whom live in institu-
tions or in substandard hous-
ing, are waiting for placement
by Kadima. For information
