ponents and telecommunica-
tions equipment.
At the international exhibi-
tion "Technology 87" in Tel
Aviv, over 60 firms were
represented in the U.S.
Pavilion. 'Products such as
machine tools, measuring
equipment, specialized metal
preparations and hand equip-
ment received strong interest.
Over $1.5 million in products
were sold.
Exports of consumer items
including televisions, radios,
household furniture, textiles,
cigarettes and food products
increased significantly in
1987.
These industries are just a
few examples of the export op-
portunities unfolding in
world markets. Through
President Reagan's and
Secretary Verity's program,
America's manufacturers and
businesses will be made
aware of these other oppor-
tunities for exporting.
Through exporting, many
American industries can
achieve economies of scale,
diversify their marketing mix
and increase profits. What's
more, our economy will con-
tinue to expand, creating jobs
and prosperity for -American
workers.
The export trends emerging
in the last year are evidence
that American companies
realize that now is the time to
export. It makes good
business sense.
