A total of 57 individuals,
age 60 and up, were honored
for their volunteer services at
the ninth annual Senior Ser-
vice Corps Recognition Lun-
cheon. The Senior Service
Corps is a project of the
Jewish Vocational Service.
The seniors provide
volunteer services to Fresh
Air Society, Grace Hospital,
Hillel Day School, Hillel
Foundation at Wayne State
University, Holocaust
Memorial Center, Jewish
Community Center, Jewish
Information Service, JVS and
Sinai Hospital.
Shirley Schlang, director of
counseling and placement
services, and Rosemary
Doyle, counseling supervisor,
presented the awards to the
honorees.
Honorees and the organiza-
tions they serve are: Fresh
Air Society, Dorothy
Schucart; Grace Hospital,
Marguerite Breiner, Helen

Yiddish Language Groups
Slated For Senior Adults

The senior adult depart-
ment of the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Building of the Jewish
Community Center has two
Yiddish-language programs.
On Fridays at 10:30 a.m. in
room 4 Sol Granadier leads a
discussion group on current
issues. At 12:30 p.m. in room
2, Helga Plonskier teaches a
beginner's Yiddish conversa-
tion course. Everyone is in-
vited at no charge.
The Book Fair video,
"Pioneer Jews," with Harriet
Rochlin will be show in the
JPM atrium at 10 a.m. on
Monday and Thursday.
Sinai Hospital will present
the last in this year's lecture
series, "Your Skin — Take
Care;' on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in
the JPM assembly hall. Im-
mediately following the lec-
ture, the movie, "Rose of
Washington Square:' will be
shown in the assembly hall.
The international and
Israeli folk dance groups meet
on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. in
the JPM assembly hall. Son-
ny Lipenholtz is the
instructor.

The "For Women Only"
Club will celebrate its
members' birthdays on
Thursday at 10 a.m. in Jaffe
Hall. There will be special
entertainment and
refreshments.
The Yiddish Culture Club
will feature vocalist, Ruth
Savage, accompanied by
Lillian Zellman, at 12:30 p.m.
Thursday in Jaffe Hall.
Abe
Gornbein will
moderate the Press Review, a
current events group, meeting
at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in
Jaffe Hall.

Prevent Theft
Talk For Seniors
At OP Center

Consumers Power will give
a presentation on preventing
residential burglary on Aug.
23 at 12:30 p.m. at the Oak
Park Senior Center. Mary Lee
Kaltenbach, Consumers
Power representative, will be
the speaker.
The program is free of
charge and open to the pbulic.
