building housing the PLO
radio station, which was com-
pletely destroyed by air-to-
surface missiles, a camp run
by the Al Fatah wing of the
PLO, and the local head-
quarters of George Habash's
popular Front for the Libera-
tion of Palestine and Nayef
Hawatme's Democratic Front
for the Liberation of
Palestine.
At least 12 people were
killed or injured in the attack,
carried out by six planes dur-
ing a two-hour period. Am-
bulances were reported to be
rushing to the area, and the
local radio appealed for blood
donations.
The PLO radio station was
set up six months ago, with
the announced aim of broad-
casting instructions to
Palestinians involved in the
uprising in the administered
territories.
But it devoted most of its air
time to broadcasting slogans,
playing popular marches and
speaking about the indepen-
dent Palestinian state the
PLO hopes to establish.

Wife Finally
Gets 'Get'

Tel Aviv (JTA) — A battered
wife recently received a "get,"
a religious divorce, 18 years
after she first applied. The get
was obtained only after her
husband was threatened with
solitary confinement in the
prison where he is serving a
life sentence for murder.
Aliza Shmueli, 44, last
week accused Israel's Or-
thodox religious courts of a
lethargic response to her ap-
peals for a get. Shmueli sued
for divorce in 1970 when her
husband tried to burn down
their home. After an eight-
year separation, the rab-
binical courts still refused to
act.
She finally was helped by a
lawyer provided by Na'amat
— the Labor Zionist women's
organization. The attorney
filed a complaint with the
rabbinical court charging
that Shlomo Shmueli was not
providing for his wife nor
fulfilling the duties of a hus-
band.
