Inter- ment Florida. Samuel Mendel, War Veteran Chicago — Samuel L. Mendel, the oldest of two re- maining Spanish-American War-era veterans, died July 13 at age 104. Mr. Mendel was commander-in-chief of the Spanish-American War Veterans Association. Harold Perlman Harold Perlman, a retired commercial and residential building contractor, died Ju- ly 29 at age 75. Born in Lithuania, Mr. Perlman lived many years in Detroit prior to moving to Miami Beach, Fla., seven years ago. He was the owner of the Liberty Improvement Co. from 1953 until his retire- ment in 1981. He was a member of Einstein Lodge of B'nai B'rith. He leaves his wife, Sylvia; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Zina) Kramer of Bloomfield Hills and Mrs. Ralph (Anita) Zicherman of West Bloom- field; a sister, Mrs. Egon (Et- tie) Steiner of Vienna; and three grandchildren. Born in Russia, Mr. Kosarin was a member of the Univer- sity of Michigan Alumni Association, a member of the Technion Society, a member of the Engineering Society of Detroit. He leaves his wife, Jac- queline; three daughters, Mrs. David (Karen) Frank, Stephanie and Nadya; two sons, Gregory of Springfield, Va., and Ray of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. Irwin (Edith) Gottlieb; and nine grandchildren. Phillip Nusholtz Phillip Nusholtz, a tax at- torney, died July 31 at age 69. A native Detroiter, Mr. Nusholtz was graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1943. He was a member of the Philomathic Debating Club and Temple Emanu-El. He leaves his wife, Shirley; three sons, Guy of Ann Arbor, Dean and Neal; a brother, Donald; and four grandchildren. Norman Snyder Norman N. Snyder, a residential and commercial builder, died Aug 1 at age 67. Born in Detroit, Mr. Snyder was affiliated with Snyder and Snyder Construction Co. He was a custom home builder for thore than 35 years. He was graduated from the University of Michigan and attended Wayne State University. He was a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek and its men's club, the Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan and B'nai B'rith. Mr. Snyder was active with the Anti- Defamation League of B'nai B'rith and a volunteer for the American Arbitration Association. He leaves his wife, Judith; two daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Carol) Resnick and Mrs. Michael (Kathy) Latter; a son, Steven; and one grandson. I NEWS I Magen David Strike Averted rIbl Aviv (JTA) — A strike by the Magen David Adom was called off at the last moment Tuesday, after the Finance Ministry paid more than a half million dollars to the MDA management to enable it to pay July salaries. The money was transferred to the MDA, Israel's first-aid and paramedic organization, literally a minute or two before noon, the time at which the organization's employees said they would walk off their jobs, if their salaries were not paid.
