Matt Colman, son of Lynn
and Joel Levi and Dr. Richard
Colman, -twinned his bar
mitzvah on June 25 at Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek
with Maxim Yankelevich of
Leningrad.
Maxim is the son of Zelman
and Elena Yankelevich.
Yankelevich was denied per-
mission to emigrate in 1980
because he had access to
"state secrets?' Zelman is a
construction engineer and his
wife, Elena, is a cosmetician.
The Yankelvich family per-
sists in their efforts to
emigrate. They applied for
visas again in 1983, but were
refused permission to leave.
Matt has written several
letters to Maxim but has not
received a response.
