Jordan has been hired as the executive direc- tor of the Jewish Community Association/United Jewish Appeal. Jordan, 54, has an eclectic background. Born and raised in Boston, he received his B.A. degree from Boston University and then studied at Hebrew Union College where he completed his graduate work and was or- dained a rabbi. He has serv- ed as rabbi in several syna- gogues across the country. From 1969 to 1975 he was employed by the United Jewish Appeal and worked in a variety of positions, in- cluding director of UJA's Rab- binical Advisory Council and head of UJA's University Pro- grams Department. Jordan declined to talk about any specific plans or ac- tivities he would like to see implemented. He did detail his overriding orientation. "The greatest challenge in working with the Jewish com- munity now is the one of building bridges between the various segments in the com- munity in order to achieve the goals we have in com- mon," said Jordan. "These goals are survival and the perpetuation of Jewish values:' Jordan has two children — a son who is a guide in Jerusalem, and a daughter who's "trying to learn the meaning of life" in San Diego.
