vance, the home celebration,
the family involvements —
whatever the bar mitzvah
and his family are to know
about the celebration are in-
cluded here.
The value of this work on a
family basis is that it provides
the space necessary for the
celebrant and his family to
keep a record • of the events.
The record is an introduction
to a diary. It provides the joy
for celebrants to learn from
the accompanying traditional
facts as well as to add to them
the personal commitments.
The result can be an im-
perishable family possession.
Credit for the compiled text
and illustrations are due to
Emily Gelber and Jane Lahr.
The illustrative ar-
rangements for this bar mitz-
vah book add distinction to
the volume's appeal.

Children's
Children:
A related large book pro-
vides a general idea for a
diary, as means of preserving
the family roots. "Children of
Our Children" is an ap-
propriate title for the book
published by Winston-Derek
of Nashville, Tenn. In it,
Helen Daniel, Augusta Feller
and Ruth Roth have compiled
the means of "Preserving the
roots." With poems and brief
essays, tracing the im-
migrant's home building in
this country, the large volume
provides space for experiences
and occurrences, an accoun-
ting of memories, with provi-
sions for photos.
In "Children of Our
Children" there are the con-
tinuing inspirations in holi-
day observances and in honor-
ing important historic events.
The Holocaust is memorializ-
ed. Traditional observances
are given emphasis, preserv-
ing dedication to faith.
That's how family histories
are recorded and diaries are
transformed into family
histories. "Children of Our
Children" is a book with
ideas. It is a guide book. In
addition to the preservation
of family roots, it provides
guidance and the means of
turning dreams into histories.
