Polish will be installed as senior rabbi of Temple Beth El during ser- vices Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. Rabbi Polish, who will assume his new duties at Temple Beth El on August 1, will be the temple's fifth senior rabbi this century. A native of Evanston, Ill., Rabbi Polish will be installed by his father, Rabbi David Polish, a pioneer in Reform Zionist circles. Both rabbis will address the congregation, along with Dr. Richard C. Hertz, rabbi emeritus of Tem- ple Beth El. The installation, service will be combined with a tradi tional Friday night Sabbath service. Professor Jason and Mamie Tickton, temple organist and temple choir director, will arrange music for the event. An Oneg Shab- Chairman for the evening is Lucille Miller. She will be assisted by Fayclare Blau, Diane Chasnick, Lois Gerenraich, Carol Israel, Herbert Kaufman, Phyllis Loewenstein, Judy Marx, Marvin Novick, Earl Remer, Harvey Willens and Morton Zieve. Rabbi Polish comes to Beth El from Temple Israel in Los Angeles. The 46-year-old rab- bi is a graduate of Nor- thwestern University, the Hebrew University and Har- vard University, where he earned a doctorate in religious history. He has serv- ed on the executive board of the Central Conference of American Rabbis and held Rabbi Daniel Polish numerous other national, bat honoring the new rabbi regional and community leadership positions. will follow.
