Pollard Denies
Post Story

New York (JTA) — Jonathan
Pollard, who was convicted of
spying for Israel, issued a
statement from his prison cell
calling an article in The
Washington Post a "complete
fabrication of my views." The
article had portrayed him as
holding extreme right-wing
political views about Israel.
Pollard asked for a personal
interview to clarify his
position.
Last week's article was
written by Robert Friedman,
and was similar to one writ-
ten by Friedman that was
published earlier in the
Village Voice.
Both articles were based on
letters written by Pollard in
which he made Israeli ultra-
nationalist statements,
including the regret that car-
bombings of two Palestinian
mayors had done only "half
the job."
Pollard, who is now serving
his sentence in a maximum
security prison in Marion,
Ill., said he had written over
200 lengthy letters to various
people expressing his views,
and claimed that "apparent-
ly mixed with those letters
are a number of forgeries, and
it is not surprising to me that
the prosecution continues to
disseminate false information
during periods when I or my
wife have motions before the
court in Washington."
Friedman defended his
work, saying he had been
given copies of the letters,
which he said, "are absolutely
authentic, and quoted accu-
rately. And in every letter his
views are absolutely clear and
say that a Jew's first respon-
sibility wherever he or she
resides is to Israel."

Firm May Be
Liquidated

Tel Aviv (JTA) — A Tel Aviv
district court has ordered the
liquidation of the strike-
plagued Alliance Tire Co. in
Hadera.
The official receiver,
Amram Blum, was given un-
til Sunday to carry out the
order.

tial Community.
There is complete separation between
the Full Service Convalescent Home on
the upper floor and the Supportive
