Horwitz Thomas Horwitz, retired president of Michigan Fluorescent Light Co. in Pon- tiac, died July 1. Born in Rochester, N.Y., Mr. Horwitz pursued a second career as a theatrical makeup artist and lectured to univer- sity drama departments in every state. He was active in civic and religious affairs. He was on the board of directors of Temple Beth Jacob in Pon- tiac and was a past president of the temple. He was a member of B'nai B'rith, an adviser of several youth groups and a member of the board of the Pontiac YMCA. He was an amateur sculptor and painter and his bronze sculpture of Job has been widely exhibited. He leaves his wife, Selma; a daughter, Elinor Stecker of Hartsdale, N.Y.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ralph Goldstein Ralph A. Goldstein, owner of Ralph Goldstein Building and Investment Co., died June 30 at age 53. Born in Detroit, Mr. Golds- tein was a former captain of the University of Detroit basketball team in 1956. He was the first guard in the U- D history to score 1,000. He coached basketball at St. Theresa and Divine Child high schools and Aquinas Col- lege in Grand Rapids. Mr. Goldstein was named to the U-D Hall of Fame. He leaves his wife, Maryellen; three daughters, Barbara, Suzie and Linda; his mother, Mrs. Syde Goldstein; a brother, Bernard. Seymour Gallant Seymour Gallant, owner of City Floor Coverings in Fern- dale, died July 1 at age 68. Born in Detroit, Mr. Gallant was a member of Congregation Beth Achim, Great Lakes Yacht Club and Mosaic Lodge of the Masons. He was a founder of Henry Morganthau Lodge of B'nai B'rith.
