DINE-IN OR CARRY-OUT
comfortable booths . . . Our
waitress, Nancy Goff, was
most pleasant and efficient,
bringing appetizer of gravlox
with its mustard and caper
sauce (in Sweden, it's called
gravad) . . . The delicacy is
marinated about five days
and served with rounds of
pumpernickel bread . . . the
seafood chowder was superb
. . . so full bodied and tasty
. . . Then the very popular
peppered salmon fillets
sauteed and served over a
sherry and chive buerre
blanc.
Michael's kitchen is open
Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to
11 p.m. . . . and drinks served
until 2 a.m.
"NEW KID on the block"
. . . is Ruby D's . . . a 1950s
style deli at Sugar Tree, Or-
chard Lake Road north of
Maple . . . Cafeteria during
the day with folks taking
numbers and names being
called out when order is ready
. . . and waitpersons at night
. . . Ruby D's, with its refur-
bished '50s Wurlitzer playing
songs of that era, has most of
its sandwiches and salads
named after tunes of those
wonderful times.
MORE FUN at Joey's On
Jefferson, corner Van Dyke
. . . as Gary Tringale gives a
party "just like that" . . . A
lot of folks had a good time
and enjoyed the fine food and
spirits at Joey's . . . Many
there just to dine and enjoy
. . . and more with invites to
Gary's party . . . Seems like
getting on his guest list these
days is somewhat of a status
for merriment.
Head Chef Pino Urso is
direct from Italy . . . with a lot
of knowledge about Italian.
foods . . . He has been joined
by Chef George Berishaj, cook
for Pete, Mike and Nick Lar-
co at their Six Mile spot,
where he started in 1976 .. .
George also owns the distinc-
tion of being assistant chef at
the oldest restaurant in
America . . . New York City's
Fraunces Hotel.
They don't get much better
than Joey's on Jefferson's ex-
cellent maitre d', Napoleon
Ross . . . so very courteous,
gracious and extremely effi-
cient . . . General Manager
Dean Cicata is a big favorite
with his knowledgeable ways.
Annette and Sonny Eliot,
Robbie Timmons, Vinnie
Johnson, Dave Bing and so
many folks . . . Evelyn and
Art Frieman of Lazare's Furs
in Windsor, who had come to
dine and see Gary's mother,
Marion Tringale.
