Israel Put
On Thal

A Very Happy and Healthy
New Year to All Our Friends
and Family.

Athens (JTA) — The Pan-
Hellenic Cultural Movement,
a front for the Greek Com-
munist Party, put Israel on
"trial" last week for its
behavior toward the Palesti-
nians in the West Bank and
Gaza Strip.
The prosecutor was the
well-known Green actor
Kostas Kazakos, who has
been at the forefront of every
anti-Israel demonstration
here in recent years.

May the New Year Bring
To All Our Friends
and Family — Health,
Joy, Prosperity
and Everything
Good in Life.

Statement Backs
Ethiopian Jews

May the coming year be
one filled with health,
happiness and
prosperity for all our
friends and family.

Washington — Rep. William
S. Broomfield (R-Birming-
ham) urged the Ethiopian
government this week to per-
mit the remaining Ethiopian
Jews to emigrate to Israel.
Broomfield, the ranking
Republican on the House
Foreign Affairs Committee,
said 5,000 Jews remain in
Ethiopia and should be allow-
ed to join their families in
Israel.

New York (JTA) — A former
Jewish community center in
Moscow will be returned to its
owner, Moscow's famous
Choral Synagogue, 47 years
after it was requisitioned by
the Soviet authorities to serve
as a hospital for war
casualties.
An agreement was reached
last week between Rabbi Ar-
thur Schneier, president of
the Appeal of Conscience
Foundation, and Mayor
Valery Saikin of Moscow for
the transfer, which has been
approved by the Moscow City
Council.
Schneier said his congrega-
tion will help pay for restor-
ing the 100-year-building,
which stands next to the
Choral Synagogue, the
largest in the Soviet Union,
on Arkhipova Street.
