Dysautonomia are born with
an abnormal nervous system
in which their nerve cells
have not fully developed. The
disease causes the autonomic
nervous system to malfunc-
tion which affects involuntary
body processes such as blood
pressure and the digestive
system.
Dysautonomia also causes
the inability to cry with
overflow tears and influences
the central nervous system
which controls voluntary ac-
tions. Despite problems with
sensation and autonomic
regulation, the children have
normal intelligence. Today,
there is no known method of
determining whether or not
an individual is a carrier of
the disease.
