Gurewitz Named
FRCH Secretary

Harold Gurewitz, a past
president of Congregation
T'chiyah was elected
secretary of the Federation of
Reconstructionist Congrega-
tions and Havurot (FRCH).
The federation is the con-
gregational arm of the
Reconstructionist movement
and is comprised of 62 af-
filiates in North America and
one in Curacao.
Gurewitz, an attorney from
Detroit, just completed his
first two-year term on the
board of directors of the
federation. A member of Con-
gregation T'chiyah for 11
years, Gurewitz is president
of the Federal Criminal
Defense Lawyers Association
of Michigan and chairman of
the legal and regulatory com-
mittee of the Detroit Casino
Gambling Study
Commission.

Courses Offered

Rabbi Yitzhak Kagan

Time — An Oasis of Spirit:'
Guests will have an oppor-
tunity to participate in a total
Shabbos learning experience.
It will be a weekend of
workshops, song, prayer and
meditation. All meals will be
catered and eaten at the
Torah Center. The weekend
will wind down with a picnic
brunch with swimming and
boating on one of West Bloom-
field's scenic lakes.
Resident scholar will be
Rabbi Yitzhak Meir Kagan,
author of the "Thought for
the Week' essays on the Torah
readings and holidays. Rabbi
Kagan is a radio personality,
teacher and organizer of
Jewish educational programs

Archer Ben-Moche, a vice
president of Congregation
Beth Achim, will conduct
Hebrew literacy courses at
the synagogue beginning
July 17 at 9:30 a.m. There is
no charge.
Classes will include learn-
ing to read Hebrew and
proving Hebrew to follow the
