Detroiters Go
To Seminar
Two Detroit-area teachers,
Dr. Liela Goldman of
Michigan State University
and Wayne State University,
and Rabbi Jack Goldman of
Macomb Community College,
are among 45 Jewish and
non-Jewish teachers from 18
states and the District of Col-
umbia who will atend a
seminar this summer in
Israel on teaching the
Holocaust and Jewish
resistance to the Nazis.
The American Gather-
ing/Federation of Jewish
Holocaust Survivors, the
American Federation of
'Leachers, Ghetto Fighters
House in Israel, Yad
Vashem, Haifa University
and the Educator Chapter
of the Jewish Labor Commit-
tee are the co-sponsoring
organizations.
Detroiter Wins
Fellowship
Jessica Aberly has received
the Herbert Scoville Peace
Fellowship Award. Ms. Aber-
ly, a 1984 graduate of Lahser
High School, majored in in-
ternational relations while at
Brown University, from
which she was graduated in
May.
As a Scoville Fellow, Ms.
Aberly will serve as an intern
in the Woman's Outreach Pro-
gram for the Committee for
National Security, Washing-
ton, D.C.
She is the daughter of
Ansel and Suzanne Aberly of
Bloomfield Hills.
