Samuel Frankel has been
named honorary chairman of
Adat Shalom Synagogue's
Oct. 16 dinner honoring Rab-
bi Efry Spectre. The dinner
will mark Rabbi Spectre's
10th year as spiritual leader
of Adat Shalom and his 25th
year in the rabbinate.
Frankel, his wife, Jean, and
their family are long-time
members of the synagogue.
Frankel was the 1984 reci-
pient of the Fred M. Butzel
Award and is president of
United Jewish Charities.

Washington (JTA) — A
forum on "American Jews
and Politics, 1988" revealed
that the issue of how much in-
fluence the Rev. Jesse Jack-
son has on the Democratic
presidential candidate may
be even more a factor in how
Jews vote this November than
it was in the 1984 presiden-
tial campaign.
Morris Amitay, former ex-
ecutive director of the

American Israel Public Af-
fairs Committee, stressed last
week that how Massachusetts
Gov. Michael Dukakis
"handles" Jackson will effect
the Jewish vote "more so that
any statement the candidate
may make on Israel."
