f you're seated with
Professor Jason and
Mamie Tickton and ask
one of them a question, be
prepared for both of them to
answer — at the same time.
Their simultaneous responses
are indicative of other things
they enjoy together — their
marriage and their jobs. And
it is because of their longtime
association with the temple, a
combined total of 101 years,
that the duo will be honored
on Tuesday at Beth El.
Tickton, a professor of
music at Wayne State Univer-
sity for 47 years, began his
temple career 55 years ago as
a result of "being in the right
place at the right time." His
organ teacher was ill and ask-
ed him to substitute, and he's
had the post of temple
organist ever since.
Mrs. Tickton, the former

Husband and wife team, Professor Jason and Mamie Tickton, have
brought a wealth of musical programs to Temple Beth El.

Mamie Maldawsky, met her
future husband in a music ap-
preciation class at Wayne

State University. The two
married in 1940. Soon after,
